Accelerating Innovation in Noosa

This week, Innovate Noosa, a vehicle to help Noosa businesses, organisations and residents develop innovative ideas and projects for our Shire, will be launched at the ‘Innovation in Noosa’ showcase on 4 May at Noosa Boardroom.

The entity has been created through a collaboration of local businesses and organisations looking to accelerate innovative solutions and entrepreneurship in the region.

It is designed to promote economic growth and diversity, facilitating collaborations and helping people to implement projects that deliver positive and sustainable economic, social and environmental outcomes.

With the input of individuals including representatives from a number of local businesses and organisations such as Tourism Noosa, CCIQ Noosa, Noosa Biosphere Foundation and Zero Emissions Noosa (ZEN), Innovate Noosa will help to broker and link new ideas and projects with necessary resources.

“There’s a growing sector here in Noosa of entrepreneurs, businesses and other organisations who have ideas, knowledge and expertise for how we can grow and diversify the local economy, while promoting social and environmental sustainability,” interim President Brendan Cass said.

“Innovate Noosa will be a vehicle to help people to progress these ideas, to link projects together and to access appropriate resources.”

An early priority for Innovate Noosa is to gain knowledge from across the community about what already exists and to identify the sorts of support people are looking for. The goal is to make sure projects are collaborative, viable and sustainable, and to avoid duplication.

This will help projects in the Noosa region gain and leverage more government funding, and improve the potential for corporate investment in projects.

With the entity still in its early stages, work is underway to establish the governance and Board structures. The goal is to make sure that, like the projects it will progress, Innovate Noosa has a business model that is innovative.

People and organisations across Noosa will be invited to join as members once governance arrangements are established.

Innovate Noosa is working in alignment with Noosa Shire Council to accelerate our innovative capacity and Council has provided initial support to help establish Innovate Noosa.
